Laugh Lines Chicago: A Storytelling Workshop
Join us on Saturday, June 11 in the boardroom at the Center on Halsted (3656 N. Halsted Street) in Chicago for Laugh Lines: A Storytelling Workshop for Older Adults at 12 p.m.!
Learn how to turn your funny and heartwarming aging experiences into entertaining stories you can share with your loved ones. Olga Loya, an award-winning storyteller and experienced workshop facilitator from Stagebridge senior theatre company in Oakland, CA, will teach attendees the skills they need to tell their story in a compelling and engaging way.
Six participants from the workshop will be selected to compete at the subsequent Laugh Lines storytelling event on June 25th (see below for more on the event).
The Laugh Lines workshop is scheduled to start promptly at 12 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
The workshop is free and open to the public, but registration is required. After you register below, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that will provide more detail about the workshop.
The Laugh Lines event series is brought to you by What is Brain Health?, a national campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living. The campaign helps raise awareness about brain health while empowering older adults to make the most of their brain as they age. We look forward to seeing you there!
About the Laugh Lines storytelling event…
Six workshop attendees will be invited to join in the fun of Laugh Lines: A Storytelling Event about the Experience of Getting Older. Older adults from all over Chicago will gather at Hoover-Leppen Theatre at the Center on Halsted (3656 N. Halsted Street) on Saturday, June 25 to listen and laugh as local storytellers share accounts of their funny and heartwarming aging experiences. The two-hour event—hosted by local celebrity emcee—will be kicked off by a story from workshop facilitator and award-winning professional storyteller Olga Loya.
Then, the six amateur tellers chosen from the workshop will compete by sharing humorous and authentic stories on the topic of “getting older.” Laugh Lines is designed to engage the brain in an afternoon of laughter and learning. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
